Victoria Von Hessert
I joined the school board because I want our students to receive a great education that equips them for success academically and socially in middle school, high school, and beyond at a cost that our taxpayers can reasonably bear. I am the mother of three boys, all of whom are current and future Lakeview students. I grew up in New Jersey, and lived and worked in Boston before moving to the Greensboro area to work in hospitality in 1998. I have a background in cheese making and aging at both Jasper Hill Farm and Bonnieview Farm in South Albany, and returned to work part time for our family business, Cellars at Jasper Hill, in the fall of 2015. I served on the board of Four Seasons of Early Learning for six years, including as board President. In addition to my current work on the Lakeview board, I serve on the Events and Communications committees of the board of the Greensboro Association and am active with PLUS, Lakeview Union’s parent organization. As a family, we enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, and both Nordic and alpine skiing.
In my service to the board, I am most interested in addressing issues surrounding school quality, both in terms of instruction and programming. I also serve as the ad hoc member of the Act 46 study group to examine school district consolidation. I hope to help Lakeview grow in its academic strengths, remain a supportive and nurturing environment to all students, including those facing challenges in school or at home, and deepen its roots in the community we all call home.

It has always been "all about the kids". This is the third time I have served on the Lakeview Board. Total time of service: 15 of the last 30 years on either the Stannard or Lakeview School Boards. A biologist by training, I am recently retired after almost 37 years of Vermont state service, primarily in various roles at the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. I am a veteran, retired from the Coast Guard Reserve and am currently serving as an elected Auditor for the Town of Stannard.
My current focus is on using my longevity on the Board and in state government to help Lakeview navigate the current state emphasis on school consolidation. What I hope to accomplish remains to be determined because each time I have served on the Board, Lakeview has faced unique challenges. What were good approaches when I served earlier may be bad ideas now, and vice versa. It will all take time and patience.
Please contact the Lakeview Board if you are interested in joining the School Board.
