Music Notes

Hello Lakeview families!

I am very excited to share with you some changes to the music program for this year.

Attached you will find an outline of what your student will be learning in general music class. I like to provide a variety of music concepts and experiences, and hope that these changes in curriculum will bring new life to the general music classes.

We will be continuing the band program, and I am very pleased to announce that we will be adding chorus! While all students at Lakeview will still take part in the winter and spring concerts, 4th-6th graders will have the opportunity to join chorus. This will take place only once a week, on Mondays, during recess time. There is no audition; everyone is welcome to sing with us!

Plans are underway to hold an OSSU Chorus Day November 21 and the OSSU Band Day February 17 at Hazen. These will be special events for students in Chorus and Band, grades 5-12, to meet with other schools and rehearse for an evening concert together at Hazen Union High School. As soon as the dates are set, they will be sent home.

I hope that you find these changes as exciting as I do. There has been a lot of great energy from all the teachers and staff at Lakeview to make this a wonderful school year.

If you have any questions, please e-mail or send a note for me with your student. I am looking forward to making music with every class at Lakeview!

Musically,

Kristen Marian,
